Terry's Altered Books: Halloween Pages
These are my altered book pages from a Halloween book that we both worked on. This has since become a standing tradition, and every Halloween we work on pages together. The second book is almost complete. Some of these images contain transfers from the Random House book "Creepy Classics" edited by Mary Hill with wonderful Illustrations by Dominick R. Domingo
all Hallow's Eve

This is an old book cover that was done over with cheese cloth and treated with a gel medium. I used scrapbooking paper for the background "wooden door" and Jeff lettered the title with felt pen.

all Hallow's Eve

I altered a vintage school photo by soaking it for 30 seconds in water, sanded it lightly, and gave it a light wash of orange watercolors. I cut, highlighted, and attached the black hat, added photo corners, and glued the photo to orange cardstock drybrushed with acrylics. Then I stamped Trick or Treat! and inked the corners.

Creep Face

I used scrapbooking paper with a transfer from the above mentioned book "Creepy Classics". Orange an yellow Prisma pencils were used to highlight, and Treated photo strips were then added to embellish.

Nighttime

Again, a transfer on to Scrapbook paper was done to create this image. Black mesh was then added, scored and ripped with an exacto knife.

Pumpkin Wagon

Using the black photo album page as a background, I painted torn cardboard with orange acrylics, stamped it with distressing ink, and added candle wax for effect. The photocopy is from a vintage book in our private collection, with text taken from the same book. The photo and text were aged with distressing ink and acrylics.

Pumpkin Wagon

This page was created simply by glueing photos from various magazines and a vintage book.

Pumpkin Wagon

This page was created a piece of halloween fabric. The bottom image is a gel transfer of a vintage halloween photo.

Using a scanned image of "Dracula", from a vintage model kit, the image is surrounded by a frosted scrapbooking paper which is, appropriately enough, a map of England.

The Fall Leaves pages were made with sanded paint chips, stickers, and pressed leaves.
